GRAMMAR SECTION B.1.1: LESSON 1.Play, Team, Opponent, Train

Play      Team      Opponent      Train

We say that you play a sport or a game. A group of people who play a sport or game against another group is called a team.

a) Are you playing on the company basketball team this year?

An opponent is someone who is playing against you or your team. When teams practice regularly before a match, or competition we say that they train.

b) His opponent only won three games in the tennis match.

c) The players train five days a week.

Can you play tennis? Are you good?
Can anyone play golf? Is golf an easy game to play?
Do you train for competitions? What kind of competitions?
Do you prefer team sports or individual sports? Why?
